Embryo transfer is the procedure which embryos ( maximum of three ) are transferred into the uterus on day 3 or day 5 after egg collection and can be done by two methods

  • Tubal transfer :
if at least one fallopian tube of women is present, the embryos can be transferred laparoscopically directly into the fallopian tubes.
  • Cervical transfer :
if the women has both tubes damaged, the embryos will be drawn into a fine catheter which will be gently inserted through the cervix and placed into the uterine cavity. This method is routinely used at our center.
It is a simple procedure which generally requires no special preparation or anaesthesia. Before transfer the doctor and / or counsellor or co-ordinator will discuss with the patients regarding the embryo development. The couple can stay together during this procedure and will have an opportunity to actually see the embryos from the laboratory prior to the transfer.
