Sperm freezing

 

Sperm cryopreservation is also available at Jetanin hospital. The frozen sperm can be kept in liquid nitrogen at -196°C for longer than 10 years. This service is provided for some cases that may not be able to provide a sample on the day of the egg collection.

Under these circumstances a semen sample may be frozen prior to the procedure and used on the day of egg collection. Some cases decided to do vasectomy but still need to have spare frozen sperm for future use or they may have to undergo some kind of radiation therapy so they also can have their sperm frozen. However, it should be noted that sperm activity is likely to deteriorate with the freezing and thawing process and fresh sperm is always preferable, if possible.
